Microsoft Won't Allow Free Windows 10 Upgrade Via Assisted Technologies After December 31

Microsoft released Windows 10 operating system back in 2015 and allowed users to upgrade their old Windows 7 and 8.1 machines to the new operating system for free. The free upgrade period came to an end in July 2016, but users could still upgrade their systems by using assistive technology update.
If you still haven't upgraded to Windows 10, but you plan on doing that, you should know that Microsoft has made changes to the assistive technology update FAQ, preventing users to claim their free update after December 31, 2017.
