Windows Mobile platform was once looking promising, but after several failed attempts, Microsoft decided to give up on it as well as on future smartphones. The true flagship Windows 10 Mobile smartphone by HP was pretty much the only high-end phone you could buy, but even that is going to change soon.
HP confirmed several times that it plans to sell the X3 Elite until 2019, but due to the lack of interest by Microsoft, they have now changed their minds. HP's EMEA head Nick Lazaridis has confirmed that HP had to drop its plans for expanding the Elite x3 ecosystem because Microsoft lost interest
"Microsoft, as all companies do, decided on a change in strategy and so they are less focused on what they thought they would be focused on today.Given that, we also had decided that without Microsoft's drive and support there it doesn't make sense. If the software, if the operating system ecosystem isn't there then we are not an operating system company," said Nick Lazaridis.
