Solar Is The Most Popular New Energy Generation Source

More expansions in solar are taking place than in any other energy generation industry. Around the world, 73 gigawatts of new solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity was installed last year. That's compared to wind (55 GW), coal (52 GW), gas (37 GW), and hydro (28 GW). It appears the world has decided solar is the best thing to invest in right now.
While renewables make up the minority of energy generation, they are growing quickly. PV and wind collectively provide 5.5% of the world's energy, yet they were responsible for half of the new generation capacity added during 2016.
