SoftBank CEO Interested In Uber Or Lyft Investment

Masayoshi Son, CEO of Japan's SoftBank, would like to invest in either Uber or Lyft. A large investment in Uber from SoftBank has been rumored for weeks. Now, Son has confirmed that potential deal, but he's also revealed the company is exploring an investment in Uber's primary competitor instead.
It has already invested in other ridehailing services around the globe, including Didi Chuxing, Ola, Grab, and 99. No investments have been made in North American ridehailing companies.
We are interested in discussing with Uber, [but] we are also interested in discussing with Lyft. We haven't decided which way, but [the] U.S. is a very big market — it's [the] most important market — so we are definitely very much interested in the U.S. market. Whether we decide to partner and invest into Uber or Lyft, I don't know what will be the end result.- Son
