Google has described a plan to use machine learning algorithms to find Android apps with atypical crashing problems. It'll utilize that data to change where apps appear in the Play Store. Those algorithms will analyze an app's "performance data, user engagement, and user ratings."
With that data in hand, Google intends to lower the ranking of apps that regularly crash. Those browsing the store will be less likely to encounter buggy software that could cause frustration once installed.
Google has used algorithms of this sort before to figure out an app's quality. Now it's using the data to actually alter Play Store rankings.
