In addition of recent iPhone 7s, 7s Plus and iPhone 8 rumours, another very interesting rumour has appeared online, which claims that Apple is reportedly thinking about dropping the iPhone S name. This was confirmed by Apple blogger John Gruber who claims that the company has been considering giving up on the "S" suffix entirely and go for simpler names.
One of the reasons is that the new S models are no longer arriving with minor improvements, but tend to get the bigger technical improvements. The Apple insider claims that Apple will use a new naming scheme with 2018 lineup, which could be called iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8 Pro.
