Pokemon Go Fest Fails Due To Server Errors, Niantic Offers Refunds

The first ever Pokemon Go Fest, an event organized by developer Niantic, didn't kick off as planned. Server and connectivity issues quickly appeared at Chicago's Grant Park, restricting people's ability to even access Pokemon Go, much less enjoy the event. Many people traveled quite a distance to attend since it was the first gathering of its kind and would be the first time players could obtain Legendary Pokemon.
Trainers, we’re aware of server and connectivity issues impacting  and are working as quickly as possible to address them.
At the least, Niantic responded by offering $100 worth of Pokecoins and a refund for the $20 ticket. Attendees weren't very pleased with that response.
It's a small gesture, but we're sorry. This is not the day that we had all envisioned, but we appreciate your patience.- Mike Quigley, chief marketing officer, Niantic

Niantic also extended the radius for capturing Legendary Pokemon.
