Uber CEO Going On 'Indefinite' Leave Of Absence

Travis Kalanick, CEO of Uber, is taking a leave of absence for an "indefinite" period of time. The embattled executive recently lost his mother in a boating accident, which triggered his decision to temporarily depart from the company. Kalanick has also been under pressure due to harassment and discrimination issues within the work culture.
Recent events have brought home for me that people are more important than work, and I need to take some time off of the day-to-day to grieve my mother, whom I buried on Friday, to reflect, to work on myself, and to focus on building out a world-class leadership team.- Kalanick
Uber recently fired 20 employees following an investigation into workplace culture problems.
