Over-The-Air Update Brings CarPlay, Android Auto To Many Ford Vehicles

Ford's first over-the-air software update has brought CarPlay and Android Auto to a range of 2016 vehicles. Every car using the Sync 3 infotainment system can receive those features via a wireless update. Customers can also install the update at a dealership or via a flash drive.
CarPlay and Android Auto provide integration with iOS and Android, respectively. They make it easier to control phone-based features and to access certain apps on a larger in-vehicle display.
The update will take place wirelessly when users enable automatic updates and turn on their vehicle's WiFi.
