After promoting the use of "reactions" on regular posts, Facebook has expanded the feature to cover comments. Users will be able to continue "liking" comments, but they can also give reactions like "sad" and "wow." The network claims people have requested "more ways to show their reaction in conversations."
The entire system is based around emoji and while there are some benefits to having more options than a like button, it's not clear the majority of users want reactions on comments.
Facebook also uses the reactions to obtain more information about a post's content and people's response.
