Uber would like to return its autonomous vehicles to California, but this time it'll do so in full compliance with local regulations. The company is applying for a test permit that'll let it join companies like Google in trying out self-driving technology.
It launched autonomous vehicles in California last year, but it didn't have a permit. Eventually the cars were no longer allowed on the road and were transferred to Arizona, which welcomed them.
Uber hasn't submitted the application yet, but it's working with the state DMV on the application process.
