TWC Ordered To Pay $139M For Infringing On Sprint Patents

Time Warner Cable has been found guilty of infringing on Sprint patents and it's been ordered by a judge to pay $139.8 million in damages. The decision came from a judge in Kansas City, Missouri, the home city of Sprint.
It's possible Time Warner Cable could end up spending more since the US District Court for District of Kansas found the company "willfully infringed" on the patents and could therefore pay triple damages.
Charter, which is now the owner of TWC, is looking at its options and says it's "disappointed with the outcome." It intends to appeal.
The patents dealt with VoIP technology.
