Qualcomm Announces New Platform For Entry-Level Phones

To cover all segments for mobile devices, Qualcomm has now announced a new chip designed for use in phones for emerging markets. Dubbed the Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform, the chip will allow phone makers to include 4G connectivity in feature phones thanks to the X5 Cat. 4 LTE modem.
It packs a dual-core processor clocked at 1.1 GHz and also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, VoLTE and VoWIFI, 720p video streaming at 30fps, and a front VGA camera and a 3 MP rear camera, dual-SIM connectivity, support for location services (GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou), and Qualcomm's hardware-based SecureMSM security platform.
First devices powered by the chipset are expected in the second quarter of 2017.
