Nintendo's first real mobile game, Super Mario Run, didn't meet the company's expectations. In a new Nikkei interview, president Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed Nintendo hasn't seen as much revenue from the game as it was hoping for.
Though it quickly became a top iOS title, Super Mario Run's free-to-play model hasn't generated as much money as Nintendo anticipated. While people can download the game and play some of it for free, the full unlock costs $10.
Super Mario Run was just released on Android earlier this week and it's also been updated with new levels.
