Lyft's latest offering is a fixed route and fixed fare service called Shuttle. It'll be reminiscent of mass transit systems and it expands upon Lyft's Line carpooling service. Drivers participating in Shuttle will use predetermined pick-up and drop-off locations.
The feature is initially being tested in San Francisco and Chicago.
The predetermined pick-ups and drop-offs differ from Lyft Line, which does allow people to get picked up at their home.
Shuttle will only be offered during weekday commute hours. Fares are fixed "at a low price point" that's determined by distance and time. Surge pricing won't impact those fares.
