Google To Shut Down Talk On June 26

In addition to killing of the SMS integration with Hangouts, Google is ready to shut down additional services. The next in line is Google Talk, but it won't be completely shut down. Instead, the service will be integrated into Hangouts so you can always use it if you're interested.
Talk users will have to switch to Hangouts until June 26, after which they will be automatically transitioned to Hangouts.
"Talk users within Gmail will receive a prompt in the next few weeks, inviting them to switch to Hangouts. After June 26, users will be automatically transitioned to Hangouts, unless contractual commitments apply. For users that preferred the Google Talk look, there is a Dense Roster setting in Hangouts that provides a similar experience."
