US Army Gives IBM $62M Contract To Run Private Cloud

IBM is the only private company with an adequate authorization to offer certain private cloud services to the US Army. Because of that position, it's been able to sign a new 5-year $62 million deal with the US Army that'll see it manage a cloud data center at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama.
This contract is only available to contractors with a Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Impact Level 5 (IL-5) Provisional Authorization. IBM is the only company with that authorization.
Its cloud is currently able to handle "controlled, unclassified information." But it's believed IBM will reach IL-6 within a year, allowing it to handle "secret" documents as well.
