FCC commissioner Ajit Pai is reportedly going to have his position at the agency elevated to chairman. He'll replace Tom Wheeler and will bring anti-net neutrality views to the head of the FCC. Pai was appointed by former President Barack Obama.
During his time at the agency, Pai has opposed net neutrality and regulation more broadly. He's been considered a likely front runner for the chairman position. Pai strongly opposed the net neutrality rules passed in 2015 under Wheeler.
Pai recently said the new FCC is going to take a "weed wacker" to the regulations passed during Obama's term.
